Welcome to the Pumpkin Texturing Challenge! 🎃
Enjoy a mess-free pumpkin carving experience this season, and create your most spooky and spectacular designs using Toolbag’s 3D texturing and painting tools.
This challenge runs for four weeks and simply requires that your entry use Toolbag’s Texture Projects to carve and texture a fun pumpkin model. We’ve supplied a new “Pumpkin Carving” scene in the Toolbag Library, and it’s ready for texturing.
We’ve opened new Discord channels for participating artists to share progress, ask questions, and submit their final entries.
To join the challenge: start a thread, download (or create!) your pumpkins, texture and render them in Toolbag, then post your submission screenshots. Submissions close at 23:59 pm CST on Sunday, November 16, 2025.
All submissions will be featured across Marmoset’s social channels and website.
We hope you have a blast experimenting, learning, and carving your pumpkins!
How to Participate
- Join the Marmoset Discord server, and find the 🎃pumpkin-challenge channels under the “Community Art” category.
- Create (1) one thread in the channel titled “🎃pumpkin-challenge-submissions📥” to share your WIPs and final artwork submission. Make sure your thread title begins with your Discord username.
- Download the “Pumpkin Carving” scene available in the Toolbag Library. That scene uses several new pumpkin-themed base materials available in the asset library, and a Texture Project with input maps already set up for you.
- Prepare your model(s). You can create your own pumpkin mesh and scene, or use the Pumpkin Carving demo scene in the Library. If you modify the base meshes in your modeling app of choice, just remember to re-bake your input maps in Toolbag!
- Start carving. Use Toolbag’s Texture Project system and painting features to carve your pumpkin. Check out the layer stack in the Texture Project of the demo scene to see how you can leverage the power of Vector layers and Carve Groups to create your designs.
- Set your stage. Customize the environment, establish your lighting design, and stage your carved pumpkins however you wish. Extra props may be added to decorate it as you see fit!
- Render your artwork using Toolbag’s real-time Raster or advanced Ray Tracing renderer to show off your carving skills in the most spectacular and spooky light.
- Submit your masterpiece! Head back to your submission thread and post at least (1) one image or video render, along with (1) one screenshot showing your viewport and Texture Project’s layers stack, to demonstrate the tricks you used to carve the pumpkins
Have some spooky fun with this challenge, and discover creative ways to carve your pumpkins with Marmoset Toolbag’s texturing tools!
